My Story
How I Got Started
I have always had a passion for health and fitness. I was the girl in leg warmers in the 1980’s when aerobics were all the rage! I have been “that” friend who tells you there is carbohydrate in broccoli. I became the mum who had a successful corporate career. Whilst fulfilled by what I did, I felt guilt. Guilt of having missed bath and bedtimes, guilt of not having enough time to do everything I was supposed to. Then without warning, the menopause hit. The mirror was reflecting back someone I didn’t recognise.
I have spent decades as a senior professional change leader, helping businesses transform, so I know that successful change means focussing on many things. I was focussed on climbing the corporate ladder, but when my life changed and I was made redundant, I realised that my identity was never going to be ‘what’ I did, but ‘who I was’.
It was time to dig out the leg warmers.

I began my journey in the health and wellness industry in 2004 as a fitness instructor and gym trainer, gaining valuable experience in strength training and functional movement. I have seen the fitness trends come and go, but one thing that has remained constant, and is now scientifically proven [link to ‘The Science’ section], are the physical, mental, and emotional benefits of being active.
Throughout the decades, finding the time to look after myself, whilst trying to juggle everything going on, was challenging. What helped me was finding ways to keep active, which fitted in with my lifestyle. I have always tried to prioritise my physical and mental wellness, be that studio-based classes, being outdoors, or practising yoga. Even with my busy life, prioritising my wellbeing made me feel some guilt, but I have learnt that to be the best mum I can be, I need to be in balance, and for me, that means an integrated approach to my wellness. In recent years, I have found the mental and emotional benefits of meditation and mindfulness to be life changing. It was at the same point I started my journey to understand and overcome my limiting beliefs. Like many women, I found myself questioning everything.
I understand the impact of hormonal changes and the physical and mental health challenges women face through our different life stages, be that motherhood, perimenopause, menopause, or beyond.
Realising there wasn’t one place I could turn to, to find all the answers I was looking for, and combining decades of change experience with my personal journey, I found my true calling and developed EmpowerHer Wellness. An integrated, natural wellness service.
Today, I combine professional qualifications, with lived experience to offer something unique which works.
